Christmas party

Every Saturday from 8 November to 20 December, the Kerzencafé will be the stage for local musical gems. Look forward to an atmospheric journey through various musical genres - from pop, rock and blues to classical and evergreens, Irish sounds, Italianità, folk music and rock'n'roll. You can find the current acts and performance times on our social media channels. Come along, enjoy the music and candlelight - and let us surprise you!

Courses and workshops

Our candle factory doesn't just produce candles - you can get creative yourself in our workshops - from classic candle making to designing paper lanterns. The courses are aimed at adults and children and teach creative work with wax in an atmospheric setting. Further information and dates can be found here:

Caroline Sprenger and her team are delighted to be offering the public candle-dipping event again this year. We will be organising the candle-pulling by appointment. You can find the exact dates of the event here:

A test of courage for young and old children. Who dares to dip their hand into the hot wax? Who can create the "scariest" ghost hand? At www.hongler.ch /wachshaende you can reserve your desired time slot. Reservation fee CHF 3.00/person, wax hand free of charge

Our products are also conveniently available in our online shop. We are happy to present you with a selection of products that you can use to brighten up the Christmas season.

Coloured, drip-free tree candles

Our Christmas tree candles are pulled on the pulling machine in the traditional way. They are available in 16 different colours and in beeswax. As the wick glides through the liquid wax, the finished candle is created layer by layer during the candle-drawing process. This ensures even heat distribution during burning, which prevents the wax from running out.

Review of previous years

Here you will find impressions of previous years. A click on the photo will take you directly to the respective photo gallery.

With her scented candles, Sonja Lauener took visitors on a journey into the refreshing alpine mountain world. Together with perfumer Jean-Claude Richard, Astrid Dörig took us on a sensual fragrance trail through various tipi tents. The opportunity to make our own mini perfume with perfumer Bibi Bigler was very popular. The cheerful soul-folk music of the band "Peat" provided an atmospheric musical backdrop.

The artist Sandra Zimmerli from St.Gallen presented artistic paper lights. The cheerful pop-folk music of the band "Jane and the Sailors" enticed our guests to dance. You could order your favourite drink at Astrid Dörig's Rolling Bar. Lots of souvenir selfies were taken in the original photobus.

With potter Fred Braun from Berneck, who showed how he makes wafer-thin vessels from porcelain.

Daniel Cotti and Markus Buschor worked large blocks of ice into magical ice sculptures. The 10-piece St.Gallen band Slackliners gave a rousing live concert in the courtyard of the candle factory, accompanied by mulled wine and a fire.

Urs Felber, Altstätten, presented various wooden objects such as candle lanterns, boulders and bowls.

Christine Egger presented her works. The artist from Altstätt often likes to work with wax.

Marta Büchler has been fascinated by clay as a material for many years. At the Lichtblicke exhibition, she presented raku objects in combination with alluvial Rhine wood.

Vasco Hebel from the St.Gallen Soap Museum gave an impressive insight into his soap production. In glorious weather, bubbles from Bubblezone flew through our courtyard to the music of Les Chouettes. In Astrid Dörig's pop-up barber bar in the containers of the Klausgesellschaft St. Margrethen, the barbers from Artos were busy trimming beards. On Saturday evening, DJ Carlo Lorenzi provided atmospheric music.

The blacksmith Andreas Buschor let the sparks fly on the anvil. The fire makers from Androma showed how to light a fire with flints and tinder. The mobile brewery. Fahrtwind introduced visitors to the secrets of brewing beer.

"Hannes vo Wald" mesmerised young and old with his fire magic and stories. The band "Wilhelm Toll" played in the old train shed and really infected the audience with their joy of playing.

The St.Gallen band RED CUBE with the two lead singers Thomas Straumann and Sonja Zünd gave a rousing live concert with mulled wine and fire in the courtyard of the candle factory.

The established Eastern Swiss artists Josef Ebnöther, Adam Keel, Lucie Schenker and Hans Thomann have designed paper bags that are lit up like lanterns by a light bulb.

The participants of a pottery course organised by the Alpstein educational club of Pro Infirmis showed off their work. Under the guidance of Stefanie Montagna and Sabine Wetter, people with a disability made bowls, lanterns, candle holders and angels from clay and porcelain.

Florist Hedy Bucher combined wax with flowers. The resulting works enchanted visitors to the Lichtblicke exhibition.
